Letter from the President

I remember working in Nordstrom’s Shoe Department and chatting with a colleague (Diana Vixamar) about this white Manolo Blahnik pump that just came to the store.

I said, “Wouldn’t it be nice to start an organization and just have everyone wearing white?”

In that moment, I came up with just what each letter would stand for. I yelled out “Women have it to Empower!”

I later began to think; if I feel this need for a sisterhood, this need for a network of powerful, knowledgeable women, then there must be others who feel this way too. With this yearning inside me  I decided to start WOMEN HAVE IT TO EMPOWER.

My goal is to create an intimate space where women could gather to network and share resources—inspiring each other to revive old goals, make new ones and move towards them.

I not only want to support my fellow colleagues but to extend guidance to our young. With members such as yourself, we can open our doors for the next generation of women. With internships or our program where we “Pay it Backwards”, we can mold new leaders and empower existing ones.

I’ve always believed in the old saying “It takes a village,” now let’s empower that village.
